The investment decisions themselves are for you and your investment advisor. What we work out is how the tax should be reported, the tax results of holding investments in different accounts and selling at different times, and the tax effect of which family member holds what; trading decisions are made by you and your licensed advisor. Sheng Qian CPA looks at all of these arrangements together from a tax point of view, so that each year's return is done properly in one go, and before year-end we remind you of what you can still do.

About the fees: The amounts above are in CAD. Personal tax prices include HST; prices for corporate services are before HST (as stated on our website). A "from" price is the starting point for common situations; many slips, a large number of transactions, rebuilding your cost base or going back to earlier years all add to the work. The actual fee is as set out in the written quote before work begins; if the work goes beyond what was agreed, we explain first and continue only once you confirm.
Who does what
Investment decisions are yours. We don't recommend specific stocks, funds or insurance products. When you need product advice, please see a licensed investment advisor or insurance advisor; we work with them on the tax side.
Tax arrangements are ours. Which account the same money sits in, who holds it and in which year it is realized can affect your tax more than differences in returns. We work these out so that you and your advisor have numbers to look at when you make decisions.
Planning meetings depend on the scope of service. The Year-round family tax advisor service includes the agreed year-end planning and the next-year planning after filing; whether a single tax return or another engagement includes a planning meeting is as set out in the written agreement.
