Receiving a letter from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) can be stressful. We represent individuals, corporations and trusts throughout the process — from the first request for information to a formal objection.
How we help
- CRA letters and reviews — we explain what the CRA is asking for, gather the support and respond on your behalf
- Tax audits — personal, corporate, GST/HST and payroll audits, including real estate and non-resident files
- Proposal letters — we review the CRA's proposed adjustments and make representations before a reassessment is issued
- Notices of objection — if you disagree with an assessment, we prepare and file the objection and deal with the CRA Appeals Division
- Taxpayer relief — requests to cancel or waive penalties and interest in eligible circumstances
- Voluntary disclosures — correcting past non-compliance, such as unreported foreign income or assets
Deadlines matter
Objection deadlines are strict. For individuals, it is generally the later of one year after the filing due date or 90 days after the notice of assessment; for corporations, it is generally 90 days after the notice. Please contact us as soon as you receive a notice.
Where a matter proceeds to the Tax Court of Canada, we work alongside experienced tax lawyers.
Contact us and send us a copy of the CRA letter — we'll tell you the next steps.
