Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about working with us. Can't find your answer? Get in touch.
Do I need to come to your office?

No. Most clients work with us remotely — you can send documents electronically and we can meet by phone or video. If you prefer to meet in person, our office is in Richmond Hill. Book a consultation.

What languages do you work in?

English and Chinese (Mandarin).

How much will it cost?

We give you a fixed quote before we start, based on the complexity of your situation. See How We Charge. New clients can book a free 15-minute consultation.

What documents should I prepare?

It depends on your situation — see our Tax Checklist & Deadlines. If you are not sure, send us what you have and we will tell you what is missing.

When are the tax deadlines?

Most individuals must file and pay by April 30. Self-employed individuals and their spouses have until June 15 to file, but any balance owing is still due April 30. Corporations file within six months of their year-end. Full list: Tax Checklist & Deadlines.

I haven't filed for a few years, or I missed a form. Can you help?

Yes. We prepare late returns and missed forms such as T1135, T1134 or UHT returns, and, where it helps, apply through the CRA's Voluntary Disclosures Program to reduce penalties and interest. The sooner you act, the more relief is usually available.

I received a letter from the CRA. What should I do?

Don't ignore it — CRA letters usually have a deadline. Send us a copy and we will explain what is being asked and respond on your behalf. See Tax Audit & Objection.

I live outside Canada. Can you still help me?

Yes. We work with many non-residents who own Canadian property or have Canadian income — rental income, property sales, residency questions and more. See Non-Resident Tax.

Can you deal with the CRA for me?

Yes. Once you authorize us as your representative through the CRA's online services, we can see your tax information and communicate with the CRA on your behalf. Step-by-step guides for individuals and corporations.

How do I pay my taxes to the CRA?

Most people pay through online banking, using their SIN (or the corporation's business number) as the account number. See our guides for individuals and corporations.

How do you protect my personal information?

As CPAs, we are bound by strict confidentiality rules. Please don't send your SIN, passport or bank details through regular email or WeChat — ask us for a secure way to share documents. See our Privacy Policy.

Do you offer bookkeeping and payroll?

Yes. Our team does the work on EasyU, our in-house platform — software handles the repetitive tasks and our CPAs review the results.
