Most corporations pay the CRA in one of two ways: through their bank's online tax payment service, or online in My Business Account with a debit card.
Your CRA account numbers
Each tax has its own 15-character account number: your 9-digit business number plus a program code.
| Tax | Account number |
|---|---|
| Corporate income tax | Business number + RC0001 |
| GST/HST | Business number + RT0001 |
| Payroll remittances | Business number + RP0001 |
Method 1: Your bank's online tax payment service
Business online banking usually offers a CRA payment option — either through Pay Bills or a dedicated service (for example, TD's Tax Payment and Filing service, which charges a small fee per payment). There is generally no payment limit, but allow 3 to 5 business days for the CRA to receive the payment.
Set up each type of payment once; after that, each payment only needs the payment type, period and amount. Large amounts can be split over several business days if your bank sets a daily limit.
Corporate income tax (RC0001)
- Set up: choose Federal – Corporation tax (T2), and enter your business number + RC0001 and your fiscal year start date.
- Payment type:
- Payment on filing (some banks call it Balance due) — the tax balance for the year, paid by the balance-due date or when filing;
- Instalment / Interim — instalment payments;
- Amount owing / Arrears — amounts on a notice of assessment, including penalties or interest.
- Period end is the last day of the fiscal year — not the due date. With an October 31 year-end, the 2025 tax balance uses 2025-10-31, and instalments for the 2026 year use 2026-10-31.
- Due date: the balance is due two months after the year-end, or three months for many Canadian-controlled private corporations.
Payroll remittances (RP0001)
- Set up: choose the federal payroll deductions type that matches your remitter type in CRA's notices — Regular / Quarterly, Threshold 1 or Threshold 2 — and enter your business number + RP0001.
- Enter: the month the pay relates to, gross payroll, the number of employees paid and the amount — the CPP, EI and income tax you deducted, plus the employer's share of CPP and EI.
- Due date: the 15th of the following month for regular remitters; the 15th of the month after each quarter for quarterly remitters; shorter deadlines for Threshold 1 and 2 remitters, as set out in CRA's notices.
GST/HST (RT0001)
- Set up: choose GST/HST payment (GST-P) — not the filing option — and enter your business number + RT0001.
- Period end is the last day of the reporting period — for example, 2026-09-30 for a quarterly filer, or 2025-12-31 for an annual filer.
- Amount: the net tax from line 109 of your return.
- Due date: one month after the end of the reporting period for monthly and quarterly filers; three months after the year-end for annual filers.
Method 2: Online in My Business Account
If the corporation has My Business Account and a Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard, you can pay online:
- Sign in to My Business Account and open GST/HST or Corporation income tax.
- Choose View and pay account balance to pay a balance, or Calculate and pay instalment payment for instalments.
- Enter the period end date and the amount, then click Proceed to pay.
- Pay with the debit card and keep the receipt.
Interac Debit cards are not accepted, and many business cards have an online limit of only a few thousand dollars — check before you pay.
Other options
- Pre-authorized debit, set up in My Business Account
- Third-party service providers such as PaySimply or Plastiq (fees apply)
- In person at Canada Post with a QR code (fee applies)
After paying, check in My Business Account a few days later that the payment has been applied to the right account and period.
